There are many approaches to writing that, before taking this class, I had never even previously considered using. One such approach is the use of parallel structured sentences. During my first class I had to write a paper in APA format, I was very stressed since I was not use to this format. It took many different tries and help from the writing center to be able to have a proper APA paper. Since that class I have learned that it does not have to be stressful as long as you have an idea of what APA is and you use the resources like the APA manual for references. Along with learning APA style I have been able to expand on my critical thinking reflective essay on writing 101. When I read an academic article I know what parts to look at to understand what the authors are studying and wither they found a significant difference or not.


College should not be taken lightly and The first new skill I learned was how to write a college level paper. Some of the classes that helped improve my limits to excel as a writer are my English class, intro to Computer Science class, and lastly Juvenile Justice Class. I have done a few segments of writing in the three semesters of law enforcement class that I have taken here at WIU.
